Who issues the IDP in Palestine?

It is issued by the Palestinian Motor Sports and Motorcycles Federation (PMSMF). Tasheel is the federation’s accredited agent: we receive the application, check your documents and deliver the permit.

Tasheel is a private company, not a government body. Our office is in Ramallah, Al-Masyoun, Brico House Building, 3rd floor, opposite the Ministry of Justice.

Who can apply?

Anyone holding a valid Palestinian driving licence who is 18 or older. The IDP cannot be issued or used if your local licence has expired.

The IDP is for travel and visits. It doesn’t replace your Palestinian licence, and it isn’t a solution if you live permanently in another country.

Documents you need

Three essentials, as clear and complete images:

  • Passport bio page (valid)
  • Valid Palestinian driving licence — front, back recommended
  • Recent personal photo on a white background

Steps: from request to pickup

  1. Check your Palestinian licence

It must be valid and you must be 18 or older. If it expires soon, renew it before requesting the IDP.

  2. Prepare the three documents

Passport bio page, your Palestinian licence (front and back) and a personal photo on a white background.

  3. Apply online or at the office

Start from the IDP service page and upload your documents, or visit us in Al-Masyoun, Ramallah (Sat–Thu 9:00–16:30).

  4. Pay 150 ILS

The price is shown before you pay. Delivery is optional and its fee is shown before you confirm.

  5. We review and submit to the federation

We check your documents and ask for anything missing; the permit is then ready in about one working day. Order updates reach you by email, and you can follow along on the tracking page.

  6. Receive your permit

Pick it up at our Al-Masyoun office or have it delivered — and always carry it with your Palestinian licence when you travel.

Where is the Palestinian IDP accepted?

The permit is accepted in most countries party to the 1949 Geneva and 1968 Vienna road-traffic conventions. Palestine joined the Vienna Convention in 2019.

Always check your destination’s rules and the rental company’s terms before you travel. We have guides for the most-asked destinations: Jordan, Turkey, UAE, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Germany, USA. The service page also has a 27-country guidance list.

Official permit vs “online international licences”

Foreign websites sell an “international driving licence” online, in dollars, within minutes. These are unofficial translation booklets, not issued by the Palestinian federation, and traffic police, rental or insurance companies abroad may reject them.

Common mistakes that delay the request or block use

Watch for these before you apply and before you travel:

  • An expired Palestinian licence, or one expiring during the trip — renew it first.
  • Blurry or cropped images of the passport or licence — photograph the whole document in good light.
  • A personal photo without a white background, or an old photo.
  • Travelling with the IDP alone — you must carry your Palestinian licence with it.
  • Relying on it after moving abroad — check the local-licence rules there.
  • Buying an “international licence” online instead of the official permit.
